  • How to convert decimal odds to fractional odds. The easiest way is to use an odds converter, but if you’d like to calculate it yourself, minus one from the decimal, then convert to a fraction and reduce the fraction to its simplest form. For example for decimal odds of 1.90: 1.90 -1 = 0.9; convert to fraction = 9/10.
  • When it comes to decimal odds, your stake is always factored into the return that you calculate but this is not the case when following the fraction method. In terms of the latter, if you put £1 on odds of 4/1 you will receive £4 in profit but also get your £1 stake back too – so £5 in total.
  • In decimal odds, odds-on selections will be expressed as values between 1.0 and 2.0. Many websites use the decimal format as standard when displaying the prices of sporting events. In fact, decimal odds are commonly used all over Europe. They are popular because they are so easy to understand, displaying the total return from a 1 unit stake.

By convention only a set of fractions are used in fractional odds betting markets. The set does not include exact mathematical equivalents to all possible decimal and American odds. We use the closet fraction that is used in betting markets.

For example, the exact mathematical equivalent of decimal odds 30 is fractional odds 29/1. However 29/1 is not used in betting markets, instead 30/1 is used, so that is what appears in this converter.
